Environmental Commitment

Engineering Healthcare Equipment Responsibly

At medViron, environmental responsibility begins with thoughtful engineering. We believe the most sustainable healthcare equipment is equipment that is built to last, manufactured responsibly, and designed to make efficient use of materials and energy throughout its lifecycle.

As an employee-owned company, we recognize that responsible manufacturing means caring for our employees, our community, and the natural resources that surround us. Environmental stewardship is not defined by a single initiative, but by the hundreds of thoughtful decisions made every day—from the materials we select to the way we operate our manufacturing facility.

Respecting the Great Lakes

MedViron manufactures its products in Zeeland, Michigan, approximately 10 miles from the Lake Michigan shoreline.  The Great Lakes Basin is home to nearly one-fifth of the world’s surface fresh water and one of North America’s most valuable natural resources.

The Great Lakes shape our region’s economy, environment, and quality of life. As a manufacturer operating within this extraordinary watershed, we recognize our responsibility to conduct business in a manner that respects and helps preserve these shared resources.

That responsibility influences the way we think about material selection, energy efficiency, waste reduction, and continuous improvement throughout our operations. Every step toward greater efficiency is a step toward protecting the natural environment that surrounds our employees, our customers, and our communities.

Built to Last

One of the most effective ways to reduce environmental impact is to manufacture products that remain in service for years—not products that require frequent replacement.

MedViron products are engineered to withstand the demands of healthcare facilities through durable materials, quality components, and proven construction methods. Longer product life reduces replacement cycles, conserves raw materials, minimizes waste, and lowers the environmental impact associated with manufacturing and transportation.

For us, durability is more than good engineering—it is good environmental practice.

Responsible Materials

Many of the materials used throughout medViron products incorporate recycled content while maintaining the strength, durability, and performance required for healthcare applications.

  • The medium-density fiberboard (MDF) used in applicable medViron products contains 100% pre-consumer recycled content.
  • Steel components contain up to 30% recycled content, consisting of approximately 80% pre-consumer and 20% post-consumer recycled material.
  • Our patented aluminum height-adjustment columns contain up to 90% recycled content.
  • Steel bases and aluminum columns are recyclable at the end of their service life.
  • Packaging materials contain an average of 80% recycled content, and all corrugated cardboard packaging is fully recyclable following delivery and installation.

By incorporating recycled materials wherever practical, we reduce the use of virgin resources while maintaining the quality and reliability healthcare professionals expect.

Responsible Manufacturing

At our Zeeland, Michigan manufacturing plant, we continually seek practical ways to improve efficiency, conserve energy, reduce waste, and provide a healthy workplace for our employee-owners.

Our initiatives include:

  • Plant-wide dust collection that helps maintain cleaner indoor air and supports employee health.
  • Heat recovery from our compressed air system. During the summer months, compressor heat is exhausted outdoors. During Michigan’s winter months, that same heat is redirected back into the facility, reducing natural gas consumption for building heating.
  • Energy-efficient lighting throughout the manufacturing plant to reduce electricity usage while providing a brighter and safer work environment.
  • Recycling of manufacturing materials wherever practical.
  • Continuous evaluation of manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for greater efficiency, lower resource consumption, and reduced waste.

These initiatives reflect our belief that responsible manufacturing is achieved through continuous improvement rather than one-time projects.

Looking Forward

As new materials, manufacturing technologies, and sustainable practices become available, medViron will continue evaluating opportunities to reduce resource consumption, improve energy efficiency, and minimize waste while maintaining the quality, reliability, and performance healthcare professionals depend on.

As an employee-owned company, we believe responsible manufacturing means leaving our customers, our community, and the Great Lakes region better than we found them. That commitment guides the way we engineer our products, operate our business, and serve the healthcare industry every day.
