Sotto Overbed Table Ergonomics
Hospital beds with motorized 5th wheel drive systems make overbed table usage difficult or impossible due to the low profile of the drive mechanism. We have solved this problem.
The Sotto Overbed Table’s base design is low enough to roll underneath the fifth-wheel when retracted. In contrast, other overbed tables, when used with a fifth-wheel bed, can only be positioned with the base forks either too close to the head or too far toward the foot of the bed due to interference from the fifth-wheel drive. This improper positioning results in the table surface being either too close to the patient or too far away to be functional. As a result, other overbed tables are often placed at an angle or parallel to the bed, raising safety concerns. When patients must use the table in such an incorrect position, it increases the risk of falls as they move outside the bed’s safety zone.
