Introducing the Martello Two-Drawer Hospital Bedside Cabinet
Designed Around Real Patient Use
Patients don’t arrive with just a wallet, phone and a pair of glasses.
Backpacks, tote bags, and personal belongings are common in modern patient rooms. These items are often left on chairs, floors, or overbed tables—not because storage isn’t available, but because traditional bedside cabinet drawers aren’t designed to accommodate them.
The Martello 2-drawer configuration addresses this directly. The lower drawer is sized to accept larger personal items such as backpacks and purses, allowing patients to store belongings in a defined, accessible location rather than distributing them throughout the room.
Integrated Power Right Where It's Needed
Rather than reaching behind the cabinet or searching for wall outlets, patients can charge phones and devices directly at the point of use. This keeps personal electronics within reach, reduces cord clutter across the room, and supports a more intuitive experience without adding complexity.
The placement is intentional—visible, accessible, and aligned with how the top surface is used throughout the day.
Top Surface Options: KYDEX or Solid Surface
The Martello cabinet is available with either a KYDEX top or a solid surface top, allowing facilities to align with their material standards and design preferences.
KYDEX offers a seamless, nonporous surface with strong resistance to impact and wear. Its formed edges eliminate seams where debris can collect, supporting consistent cleaning across the full surface.
Solid surface provides an alternative aesthetic and material profile while maintaining a smooth, continuous work surface.
Both options are designed to withstand daily use in patient care environments without introducing unnecessary maintenance complexity.
Removable Top Drawer Tub for Cleaning Access
The top drawer includes a removable drawer tub, allowing for full access during routine cleaning.
Rather than cleaning around fixed interior corners, staff can remove the tub, clean it separately, and return it to the drawer. This simplifies the process and helps ensure that the interior of the most frequently used drawer remains fully accessible.
This approach prioritizes cleanability through access—not added features.
A More Useful Bedside Cabinet
The Martello 2-Drawer Bedside Cabinet is not a departure from what a bedside cabinet should be. It is a refinement of how it actually functions in the room. The Martello Bedside Cabinet is also available in 3-drawer and drawer/door configurations.
- Storage sized for what patients bring
- Power placed where it is used
- Surface materials selected for long-term durability
- Drawer design that supports straightforward cleaning
Each decision reflects observed use, not assumptions.
